This year’s 11th Annual Touchstone Energy NC Cotton Festival was held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. With sunny skies and perfect temperatures – people from miles around came to enjoy great food, crafts, rides for the children, and plenty of friendly fellowship! There was an estimated 18,000 to 20,000 people that graced wonderful downtown Dunn, NC. This was the largest crowd thus far since the Cotton Festival was founded in 1997. Norman Litchman Jr. of Hog Bites BBQ of Dunn said “I’ve been to 28 events out of the last 29 weeks and I tell you, the Cotton Festival in Dunn in four hours has smoked our butts. This is the busiest we’ve been.”
The Dunn Tourism Authority would like to express a sincere thank you to all of the volunteers, City of Dunn Police Department, Fire Department, all of the City employees, and all of the Touchstone Energy NC Cotton Festival Committee Members who worked many long hours to make this a great success. Sharon Stevens, Community Marketing Director for the Dunn Tourism Authority has done an awesome job promoting Dunn and it’s heritage… KING COTTON!!
