Averasboro Battlefield Reenactments and Living History DemonstrationsAverasboro Battlefield Reenactments and Living History Demonstrations

Events take place in March and October. In March, reenactments are held in conjunction with the anniversary of the Battle of Averasboro that took place March 15-16, 1865. General William C. Lee CelebrationGeneral William C. Lee Celebration

Held in Dunn during the first weekend of June to honor Dunn's hometown hero and Father of the American Airborne. Week-long events include a car show, road race, veteran's reunion, pic cook-off, golf tournament, military displays, music and more. Call (910) 892-3282 for more information. The General William C. Fourth of July CelebrationFourth of July Celebration

Held annually in Lillington, the celebration includes entertainment, food, children's games and activities, exhibits, and fireworks. For more information, call (910) 893-3751.

National Hollerin' ContestNational Hollerin' Contest

Held in Spivey's Corner on the third Saturday in June, the contest features festive activities such as singing, dancing, games, arts and crafts, delicious food, and family entertainment. For more information, call (910) 567-2600 or visit www.hollerincontest.com.

Benson Singing GroveState Singing Convention

A non-denominational contest for gospel music groups and singers held in nearby Benson in the Singing Grove on the fourth Saturday and Sunday in June. For more information, call (919) 894-4040 or visit www.gospelsingingconvention.org.

Crepe Myrtle CelebrationCrepe Myrtle Celebration

This annual celebration, held the second weekend in September in nearby Angier, includes arts and crafts, food, entertainment, rides and fun for all ages. Call (919) 639-2500 for more information. The celebration is held at Depot Square (19 W. Depot Street), Angier NC.

Benson Mule DaysBenson Mule Days

Held in Benson the fourth weekend in September in honor of the noted beast of burden. Events include mule pulling contest, rodeos, parade, bluegrass music, clogging, and street dances. For more information, call (919) 894-3825 or visit www.bensonmuledays.com.

Denim DaysDenim Days

This celebration is held in nearby Erwin, "the former Denim Capital of the World," the first weekend in October. Annual Farmer's Day & Wagon TrainAnnual Farmer's Day & Wagon Train

Held the second weekend in October this annual festival held in Coats features arts and crafts, parade, street dance, pig cook-off, wagon train, and much more family entertainment. For more information, call (910) 897-6213.

Touchstone Energy Cotton FestivalTouchstone Energy North Carolina Cotton Festival

Held annually in Dunn the first weekend in November. The festival's goal is to bring recognition to one of North Carolina's prime agricultural products "cotton," and through this process attract people to Dunn's downtown. There are more than 100 food and craft booth spaces available each year.
