“Retha’s “Can’t Miss!” Thrift and consignment shopping excursion”

By: Retha Wilson

Retha is a life-long resident of Dunn and a medical technician at a local pediatrician’s office where she meets and greets a lot of Dunn’s young citizens. She is also a Mom to three avid sports fans and a LOVER of good deals.

Saturday Morning:

Triangle Waffle

We’ve got a plethora of antique and thrift stores, consignment shops and boutiques in our area. I recommend that you start your morning with a delicious country-style breakfast, at the Triangle Waffle House– a local favorite! Don’t worry, if waffles aren’t your thing, you can get eggs, bacon, grits, toast – all prepared in short order fashion to your liking!

Saturday Morning:

Saks Thrift Avenue

Just two doors down on Cumberland from the Triangle Waffle House, is “Saks Thrift Avenue” – yes, it pays homage to the famous department store, but this Saks is a place to get a bargain! It really has everything under the sun. Two whole buildings filled, wall-to-wall with the most amazing assortment of great deals on house goods, clothing, wedding dresses, rugs, furniture, you name it!

Next to Triangle Waffle – right off of Cumberland. 107 S. Sampson Ave.

Saturday mid-morning:

My Best Friends Closet

For some high-end fashion in Dunn, next stop is My Best Friends Closet, a designer resale boutique – which the local area ladies love! They’ve got a great selection of designer bags, formals, and accessories. They have over 50 consignors with new things arriving daily – so it’s a regular stop for me!

Monday thru Friday – 10am – 5:30 pm; Saturday – 10 am – 3 pm; Sunday – CLOSED

Saturday afternoon:

Norris Frozen Custard

It’s time for lunch and to relish all the treasures and finds that you likely found this morning! For over fifty years, they have been a local favorite in Dunn. Hotdogs with all the trimmings are their specialty. I used to go there as a little girl, and you could get ten hotdogs for one dollar. With inflation, it’s now two for $1.89. The taste is still the same!

The Lady Bug in the Attic

You never know where that last treasure will be found – so why not make one last stop for the day at The Lady Bug in the Attic. You will be glad you did!
