Last Saturday in August
This Years Run for 2017 will be held on August 26th!
Kellie’s Krew has a benefit 5K run and a 1 mile “fun run” through downtown Dunn. “Kellie’s Crew” organizes this 5k run annually to raise money to find a cure for the rare disease, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, and to bring survivors together. Kellie’s Krew Ltd. Was formed to fund research, raise awareness, advocate for a cure, and provide financial assistance to those currently undergoing treatment. Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) most often occurs in the areas of the head and neck, in particular the salivary glands; but has also been reported in the breast, lacrimal gland of the eye, lung, brain, bartholin gland, trachea, and the paranasal sinuses.
Kellie Hinshaw was diagnosed with ACC in 2000 and again in 2007. Kellie underwent over 20 surgeries to treat her ACC through tumor removals and cosmetic procedures. She and her husband Richard had two children – Kenneth and Kannon. Sadly, Kellie passed away in the Spring of 2014.
Kellie was a tireless advocate for those undergoing cancer treatment, and spent countless hours encouraging others who were fighting their own battles. She was a motivational speaker and passionate fundraiser for the ACCRF, and subsequently formed Kellie’s Krew Foundation Ltd. She was a true inspiration to many and her work continues through “Kellie’s Crew”.
